Dahshur And Sakkara

Our adventure begins early in the morning as we depart from Cairo, the bustling heart of Egypt. The trip to Dahshur, located about 40 kilometers south of Cairo, will take us through the enchanting landscape of the Nile Delta and the fertile farmlands that have supported this civilization for thousands of years.

Our first destination is the Curved Pyramid, one of ancient Egypt's most unique and mysterious structures. Named for its unusual curved shape, this pyramid was constructed during the reign of Pharaoh Sneferu, a prolific pyramid builder in the Old Kingdom. The distinctive double-angle design makes it a remarkable architectural achievement and a testament to the ingenuity of the ancient Egyptians.

Dahshur Pyramid

Our journey continues through Dahshur, where we visit the Red Pyramid, also known as the North Pyramid. This massive structure is the world's first true pyramid and was the final resting place of Pharaoh Sneferu. Its distinctive red color and large size offer a glimpse into the development of pyramid-building techniques.

Red Pyramid

Inside the Red Pyramid, you can venture into the burial chamber and experience the stunning interior of the ancient royal tomb. Discover the intricacies of the pyramid's architecture and the beliefs surrounding the afterlife as we delve into the history of this fantastic site.

Lunch: Traditional Egyptian cuisine

After we explore Dahshur, we will enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the local restaurants, tasting the flavors of authentic Egyptian cuisine. You can taste koshari, falafel, and baklava dishes and immerse yourself in Egypt's rich culinary traditions.

Step Pyramid

Our journey continues to Saqqara, an ancient cemetery that showcases the evolution of pyramid design and is home to the world-famous Step Pyramid of Djoser. Built during the 27th century BC, this extraordinary structure represents a pivotal moment in Egyptian architecture and marks the transition from mastaba tombs to the famous pyramidal form.

As we explore the complex, you'll learn about the life and achievements of Pharaoh Djoser, the visionary ruler behind this architectural marvel. We will also delve into the importance of the hieroglyphics and inscriptions that adorn the site, providing insight into the beliefs and rituals of the ancient Egyptians.

Imhotep Museum in Saqqara

Our final stop in Saqqara is the Imhotep Museum, dedicated to the genius architect and physician Imhotep, who designed the Step Pyramid. The museum's exhibits include artifacts, statues, and historical context that will deepen your understanding of ancient Egyptian culture and Imhotep's enduring legacy.
